Web3 Extraction Shooter AneeMate Undergoes Major Rework Ahead of Next Playtest

The developers behind AneeMate have announced a substantial rework of the game following feedback gathered from player testing. Although the title could have moved toward release in its current form, the team chose to delay progress in order to overhaul several core elements they believed were limiting the experience.

According to the developers, early playtests revealed three recurring issues: the original art style failed to resonate strongly with players, maps felt too large and sparsely populated, and session lengths were long enough to disrupt gameplay momentum. Rather than making incremental adjustments, the team opted for a full rework—an approach they acknowledge required additional time and financial investment.

The redesign focuses on three primary areas: a new art direction, tighter map layouts, and overall visual improvements aimed at both aesthetics and performance. By reducing map size and increasing environmental density, the developers hope to create more frequent player encounters and a faster gameplay rhythm.

While the core concept and gameplay identity remain intact, the studio says the rework is intended to deliver a more refined and engaging version of the original vision. A new playtest is expected in the near future, and players can currently add the game to their wishlist via its Epic Games page.

About the Game

AneeMate is a PvPvE creature extraction shooter developed in Unreal Engine 5. The game blends exploration, combat, and strategic creature management into a fast-paced multiplayer experience.

Set on a mysterious location known as the Hidden Island, players venture into dangerous environments to capture magical creatures called AneeMates while facing both hostile enemies and rival players. Matches combine elements of survival, tactical combat, and resource management, requiring players to balance offensive play with careful extraction planning.

The game supports both solo play and cooperative sessions of up to four players. Teams must coordinate their approach to combat, exploration, and creature management as they navigate dungeons, uncover narrative elements, and pursue rare AneeMates.

Creature collection and progression form a central gameplay pillar. Players can develop relationships with their AneeMates, unlocking new abilities and combat strategies as bonds grow stronger. These creatures function both as companions and tactical assets during encounters.

Beyond combat and exploration, AneeMate also emphasizes community interaction. Players can engage in cooperative or competitive multiplayer sessions, trade items and creatures through an in-game marketplace, and customize characters with various cosmetic skins.

Web3 Integration and Player Ownership

Alongside its core gameplay systems, AneeMate incorporates optional Web3 features designed to give players ownership over in-game assets.

Items such as characters, AneeMates, equipment, and cosmetic skins can be minted as NFTs, allowing them to be traded or transferred outside the game environment. Players who choose to participate in these systems can interact with blockchain wallets such as MetaMask.

To simplify onboarding, the game also provides a built-in wallet solution called the QORPO Wallet, which is automatically created for players. This allows users to manage digital assets without requiring prior experience with cryptocurrency tools.

Some NFT assets may include additional utility features such as exclusive access, community roles, or periodic airdrops. However, the developers emphasize that these blockchain systems remain optional.

Players can experience AneeMate entirely as a traditional multiplayer game without interacting with NFTs or cryptocurrency. This hybrid structure aims to maintain accessibility while offering an additional ownership layer for those interested in Web3 functionality.
