Kokodi Partners with Elixir Games for Distribution of Upcoming Extraction Shooter

Independent studio Kokodi Games has selected Elixir Games as one of the distribution platforms for its upcoming title, Kokodi. The choice marks another addition to Elixir’s expanding portfolio of action-oriented releases, as the distribution platform continues positioning itself as a hub for titles targeting competitive and replay-driven audiences, including emerging web3-enabled experiences.

A stylized take on fast-paced action

Kokodi is pitched as a vibrant, fast-moving action shooter built around short, intense runs and replay-focused combat encounters. The developers describe the game as a mix of stylized presentation and fluid, challenging gameplay intended to appeal both to newcomers and players seeking greater depth. The debut title showcases expressive character design, energetic art direction and a format designed to emphasize experimentation and repeat playthroughs.

In addition to its gameplay ambitions, Kokodi Games has confirmed that the project incorporates blockchain-based elements, including, so far, a utility-focused Genesis NFT collection and in-game craftable (or mintable) cryptocurrency, the $KOKO token. According to the studio, the token is intended to operate under what it calls a “fair” structure, without allocations for team members or external investors, and can be minted through gameplay rather than traditional token distribution methods.

The studio’s creative lead, André Freitas, said the decision to include Elixir alongside its distribution plans stemmed from a desire for a smooth and reliable player experience. Freitas added that the focus remains on delivering a polished game that rewards repeated sessions, including for players engaging with its optional digital asset systems.

Why Elixir?

Elixir Games has been positioning itself as a distribution platform centered on streamlined access and management, particularly for games that adopt live-service update cycles. Alongside its traditional catalogue role, the company also markets its technology as reducing onboarding friction for titles integrating blockchain features, including wallet management and digital asset interoperability. According to Elixir CEO Carlos Roldan, the platform intends to offer Kokodi Games a “fast and seamless distribution experience.”

For players, the partnership is expected to translate into launcher-based access and simplified update delivery. Elixir has stated that its platform is designed to minimize friction in onboarding and patching, while also providing optional pathways for players interacting with blockchain features such as tokens or NFTs, although how the experience will compare with other storefronts remains to be seen once the title launches.

The company, backed by investors including Square Enix, the Solana Foundation and Shima Capital, has accelerated its onboarding of action-focused and blockchain-enabled titles over the past year. Kokodi is set to join that catalog, though no release date has been formally announced.

A developing project

Kokodi Games is a relatively new independent studio, describing its core mission as delivering expressive, fast-paced projects built around personality and challenge. With Kokodi, the team aims to carve out a distinct identity in a growing field of extraction shooters and arcade-influenced action games.

The studio is also attempting to integrate web3 systems into its design in a way it promotes as optional yet value-driven, including digital collectibles and tokenized progression, though how these systems will resonate with wider audiences will likely depend on execution and transparency.

As with many new IPs in this space, long-term player engagement, content cadence and platform accessibility will likely determine whether the game gains traction beyond launch, whether players choose to engage with its blockchain layer or ignore it entirely.
