Off The Grid Launches on Steam with XP Boosts and Full Crossplay; Day-One Reviews Divided

Gunzilla Games’ free-to-play battle royale shooter Off The Grid is now officially available on Steam, following a surprise launch earlier today. Players cite performance issues, but praise gameplay and content depth.

Crossplay Support and Platform Expansion

Previously announced as “coming soon” to Steam, the title’s sudden arrival adds another major distribution channel to its growing list of platforms. Off The Grid is now playable on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC (via both Steam and the Epic Games Store), and Nvidia GeForce Now.

With this expansion, the game now supports full crossplay across all platforms, allowing players to join matches together regardless of their chosen system.

Gunzilla Games emphasized that development has been shaped heavily by player feedback, particularly throughout the game’s earlier availability on other platforms. Recent updates have focused on technical improvements, balance adjustments, and new in-game content — including cybernetic limbs, weapons, locations, and gameplay modes.

Bringing Off The Grid to Steam is a major milestone for us, not just because of the platform’s reach, but because it allows us to welcome an entirely new wave of players into a game that’s been built hand-in-hand with the community,” said Vlad Korolov, CEO and co-founder of Gunzilla Games.

Steam Launch Boost Event

To celebrate the Steam launch, Gunzilla is offering new players a temporary progression bonus. For seven days, Steam users will receive a 50% XP boost for account progression and a 25% boost for the battle pass. This limited-time event is intended to help players get started more quickly and engage with the game’s systems from the outset.

Mixed to Positive Reviews on Day One

Early reception on Steam has been mixed to moderately positive. On launch day, approximately 31% of user reviews were negative. The majority of critical feedback centered on technical issues, particularly performance problems and poor optimization. Several players reported inconsistent framerates and demanding system requirements.

Other points of concern included perceived pay-to-win elements and references to Web3-related features, although these were less frequently cited than performance issues.

Despite these criticisms, many players have responded positively to the core gameplay loop, map design, and visual presentation.
